Catalogue Description

Burnmoor or Bournmoor was established as an ecclesiastical parish in 1868. Before that it was part of Penshaw Chapelry, within the ancient parish of Houghton-le-Spring (Penshaw became a separate parish in 1752).

The church of St Barnabus was erected in 1868.
