Catalogue Description

The parish of Frosterley was formed in 1866 and worship originally took place in a small chapel (later a chapel of ease) which still stands next to the recreation ground today. The current church was consecrated in 1869 and is designated a building of special architectural interest. Frosterley parish forms part of the Upper Benefice of Upper Weardale which also includes the parishes of Stanhope, Eastgate, Westgate, Rookhope, St. John's Chapel and Heatherycleugh. The church closed in 2019.
