Ref: Da/A 43/1/1This committee was set up under the Rating and Valuation Act, 1925, and took the place of the Union Assessment Committee (see U/Da 722-727). Members were appointed by the council but included at least a third non-council members. The committee acted as court of appeal against rating assessments. In 1948 responsibility for valuation was transferred to the Commissioners of Inland Revenue and local committees were dissolved.
