Hett was a township of Merrington parish; Sunderland Bridge and Croxdale were townships in Durham St Oswald parish
- Hett was part of the Auckland Poor Law Union while Croxdale and Sunderland Bridge were parts of Durham Poor Law Union 1834-1843
- The three were almalgamated with the formation of Croxdale parish in 1843, with two townships, Sunderland Bridge and Hett, within Durham Poor Law Union 1843-1930
- these were two civil parishes in 1866, with elected councils from 1894
- Hett was part of Durham Rural Sanitary District 1875-1894
- Hett was part of Durham Rural District 1894-1974
- Hett was part of Durham City District 1974-2009
- latterly part of a single Croxdale and Hett Parish Council
