Probate of the will of John Maire of Lartington, Yorks., Esquire (dated 11 August 1765) devising all real estate to trustees to settle it (the Stranton and Hurworth estates subject to an annuity of £300 to wife Mary) upon his brother William for life with remainder to testator's nephew Henry Lawson and his issue in tail male, with further remainders to nephew John Lawson and his second and successive sons in tail male, thence to niece Catherine Lawson and to such of her issue in tail male as she shall appoint. Springing remainder to prevent fusion of Lawson and Maire estates. Name and arms clause

Devises estates to trustees for 5000 years to secure an annuity of £200 and a capital sum of £6000 to his niece, Catherine Salvin and to raise money to pay off his debts. Devises mansion house etc. at Netherwitton to trustees to allow his wife Elizabeth to live in it, with further provisions for his 2 daughters and their successors in the settled estates to live there as specified. Subject to the above devises all real estate upon trust, as to one moiety: to his daughter Margaret for life, with remainder to her sons, successively in tail general, thence to her daughters (as tenants in common) and their issue, with further remainder to his other daughter Mary for life, thence to her sons successively in tail general etc., with remainder to Catherine Salvin and her issue; as to the other moiety to his daughter Mary for life and her issue with cross remainders to Margaret and her issue, and further remainder to Catherine Salvin.
