Deeds relating to the grammar school at Lartington copied from originals in the hands of the lord of the manor of Lartington:-
2 July 1686
(1) John Duck, lord of the manor of Lartington
(2) Robert Rodham, William Hutchinson, Thomas Bayles, John Ewbank and John Heslop, trustees
Bargain and sale of yearly rent-charge of £6 from 2 farmholds at Cragg, to be used to pay the schoolmaster (1) appoints.
Includes clauses on curriculum, rules and appointment of trustees

(2) Thomas Maire of Lartington, Esquire, lord of the manor of Lartington
(3) Edward Browel, clerk, rector of Romaldkirk, Yorkshire, Thomas Brunskil of Bowes, Yorkshire, gentleman, Thomas Bayles of Lartington, yeoman and John Jackson of Lartington, yeoman
Recites bequest by John Parkin of Lartington, yeoman, of £60 to erect grammar school at Lartington and addition to this of £40 by lord of manor, the interest from this £100 to be used to pay schoolmaster. Recites also previous deed (2 July 1686). Appointment of (3) as trustees with (1) and agreement that (2) shall reduce yearly rent-charge to £5. Lease and release of rent charge by (1) to (3)

Bond in £200 that (1) will pay (2) £100 with interest on 22 May 1755

Memorandum by Thomas Maire that he received the above money by bequest of John Jackson of Lartington, deceased, and he will give it with interest to Lartington School to increase the salary of the schoolmaster
