Catalogue Description
Records given, 5 January 1993(Acc: 2106(D))
The manor of Lartington was the property of the Fitzhughs and their descendants from the early 15th century until 1571. Thereafter it followed the descent of the manor of Cotherstone until it was sold in 1639 to Francis Appleby. In the late 17th century it passed by marriage into the hands of the family of Maire. It passed in the late 18th century to the family of Lawson of Brough Hall and subsequently to the Withams and Silvertops. It was sold in 1912. The manor was in possession of Henry Lawson between 1771 and 1834.
