Deeds of a copyhold property in the Manor of Bondgate known as Mount Pleasant Farm, situate at Cockerton near Darlington [now in Archdeacon Newton], purchased by Thomas Hunter of Bishopwearmouth in 1840
Ref: D/X 1032/27Probably appears on the 1838 Tithe Plan as "Snaiths Field" owned by Thomas Kirkup and occupied by Matthew Stephenson. It was cut in two by the Stockton and Darlington Railway and now hosts an electricity substation and a new railway bridge associated with the Millennium Way link to the Hitachi train factory; it lies to the south of a new secondary school, itself south of Heighington Station.
