31 March 1668 (1) Thomas Richardson, the elder, and Thomas Richardson, the younger, of Common Crooke, Northumberland, yeomen (2) Humphrey Wharton of Kirkby Thare, Westmorland, esq. Lease for 999 years from (1) to (2) of a parcel of ground called the Smithy haugh 'as it is now hedged in' near to the river Darwent, with liberty to erect a milne, a kilne and other buildings, to make a race, or a dam on other land belonging to (1); liberty to build a kilne and win stones in another parcel of land called the Bankes Rent: £4 p.a. Attached: 31 March 1668 (1) Thomas Richardson, the elder, and Thomas Richardson, the younger, of Common Crooke, Northumberland, yeomen (2) Humphrey Wharton of Kirkby Thare, Westmorland, esq. Bond in £100, whereby (1) is bound to (2) to perform covenants in the indenture of even date

Bargain and sale from (1) to (2) of Darwinn Mill, erected on land leased in D/X 1361/1; and of Stanhopp hopp mill on 2 acres, part of a parcel of pasture called Holburne Sheilds, leased by (1) from Thomas Fetherston-halgh of Stanhope, esq., for 31 years from 24 June 1668; both smelt mills contain 2 hearths Consideration: £400 Attached: 7 December 1692 (1) Humphrey Wharton of Gillingwood, Yorkshire, esq., and Anthony Wharton, heir apparent of Humphrey Wharton (2) Sir William Blackett of Newcastle upon Tyne, bart. Bond in £1000 that (1) will perform covenants in indenture of even date
