The diaries reflect the activities of an unidentified builder. There are references to the building of six arches, the presence of an inspector and of Taylor and Squires, who may be sub-contractors. There is also a reference to Mr. Harrison's enquiring about the progress of the construction. No name is inscribed in the diaries, but D/X 1443/4 contains a 'Coupon Insurance Ticket' completed in the name of P. Milton, 149 Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham. The last diary (ref: D/X 1443/4) for December 1902 refers to the writer's stay in Nottingham from 24 to 29 December 1902.
