Records of William Henry Ralston, agent in overall charge of the English estates of the Bowes-Lyon family, Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, from 1889 to 1928.Also agent for the Durham estates of the Crichton-Stuart family (the Marquises of Bute) and of the Lartington estate of Norman Field. He was a Justice of the Peace; Inspector for the Board of Agriculture; Secretary for the Zetland Hunt; Chairman of the parish council of the township; of Streatlam and Stainton, and of Barnard Castle R.D.C.; Manager of Cockfield, Evenwood and Stainton schools; Chairman of the Barnard Castle District of the Durham War Agricultural Executive Committee; Official for the Primrose League.
