Second Lieutenant, 5th Battalion, The Durham Light Infantry, (T.A.); Adjutant, 14th Battalion, The Durham Light Infantry, 1916; Commandant, 1st Corps Reinforcement Camp, 1918; 1st Battalion, Lucknow Barracks, Tidworth, Hampshire, 1919; Rhiel, Cologne, Germany, c. 1919; recalled in 1939 and posted to Royal Artillery, Dunkirk, France.
13th Battalion and 8th Battalion
Born Bedminster, Somerset, 1889; 13th Battalion, The Durham Light Infantry, during September 1916 (no. 301505); also 8th Battalion, The Durham Light Infantry, at some time (no. 5661); awarded the Military Medal, September 1917, during the Battle of Passchendaele for 'conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty'. During the Second World War in charge of the Royal Observer Corps unit at Northiam, near Rye, Sussex; died, Ormskirk, Lancashire, 1968. Medals in DLI Medal Collection.
