Croxdale, St Herbert Roman Catholic Parish (Ref: RC/Cr)
Catholics in Croxdale gathered in an ancient Chapel of Ease from the 12th Century. This chapel belonged to Durham St Oswald parish. In the 1840s a new chapel, funded by the Salvin family, was in use, as they wanted a chapel nearer to their home, Croxdale Hall. This chapel is dedicated to St Herbert.
