Details from the 1901 Census
The 1901 Census for 16 May Street, Bishop Auckland, shows the Green family. The head of the family was Thomas Green, who was married and aged 55. He was a blacksmith, and had been born at Lanchester. His wife, Mary Ann Green, was aged 51 and had been born in Bishop Auckland. Thomas and Mary Ann had four children, all unmarried and all of whom had been born in Bishop Auckland. The eldest, Hannah, was 24; William M. was 19 and, like his father, was a blacksmith; Jane was 16; and the youngest child was Lydia, aged 12.
