Gateshead, St Cuthbert (Ref: EP/Ga.SC)

Gateshead, St Cuthbert was created as a parish in 1865, from the ancient parish of Gateshead, St Mary.
In 1982 it combined with the parish of Low Team, St Paul, when that church was demolished.
On 1 March 1991 St Cuthbert's Church was closed and declared redundant and a new parish of Bensham was created, uniting with Bensham, St Chad (see EP/Ga.SCh). At first baptisms were carried out in St Cuthbert's School.
