Catalogue Description

National Playing Fields Association

Various papers of the Durham County Playing Fields Association were deposited in the Durham Record Office by the Association. These are listed under the mnemonic D/PFA.
The late E.R. Hanby Holmes and his heirs passed on to the Association various papers relating to Holmes' secretaryship (1927-1931) and to the Barnard Castle branch of the Association. A copy of the list of these papers is provided as an appendix to this section.
E.R. Hanby Holmes was the first secretary of the Durham County P.F.A. (1927-31), he was also the moving spirit behind the establishment of a branch in Barnard Castle.
