Devises real estate viz 6 John Street, the house in John Street in which he resides, a cottage occupied by J.R. Brown and adjoining parcels of land with the field called the Crook and with all the furnishings of his dwelling house and all other real and personal estate to trustees for the establishment of a cottage hospital (to be carried on in connection with the Barnard Castle Dispensary and Nursing Association) and a convalescent home. Should Barnard Castle U.D.C. seek to make John Street a public road then the devise for charitable purposes is revoked and the property is to pass to the Marley family.
