These records were collected by George Shotton, Secretary of the Newton Aycliffe and District Trades Council and later shop steward of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (A.U.E.W.), and concern his political activities, especially his dispute with the Darlington District Committee of the A.U.E.W., which was settled in the High Court in 1976.
