HENRY PEASE AND COMPANY
Woollen manufacturing in Darlington by the Pease family commenced in the early eighteenth century and the Priestgate Mills were established in 1752. A series of family partnerships controlled the firm, culminating in that of Henry Pease and Co. The business retained that name until 1903 when a private limited company was established under the name of Henry Pease and Co. Limited. In 1920 the business was taken over by Lister and Co. of Manningham Mills, Bradford, but it retained its name and continued to operate at the Priestgate Mill in Darlington until the mill's closure in 1972.
For other records of the business, see D/HP 1-110
