Catalogue Description

In 2007 the Rifles Regiment was created by the amalgamation of The Light Infantry, The Royal Green Jackets, The Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry and The Royal Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry.

Today the Rifles is the largest Infantry Regiment in the British Army. All the antecedent Regiments of the Rifles (including The Durham Light Infantry) together form the Rifles Heritage Network to ensure that the history of the Rifles is preserved and enjoyed by all.

The Rifles was formed to serve as the county regiment of 13 counties, including County Durham.
