Minutes of church meetings, 28 April 1831 - 24 March 1880 At back: membership lists, 28 April 1831 - January 1872 Includes: notes on possession of trust deeds, 21 October 1834 and 30 September 1850 The church was established in April 1831 by Staindrop residents who had previously attended the church at Newgate Street, Barnard Castle, but 'deem it our duty now to separate from our Brethren there and form ourselves into a distinct Church'

Affidavit by John Belough jun. of Newcastle upon Tyne, tailor, and William Wilson of Newcastle upon Tyne, gentleman, that (1) John Belough and Richard Carr Belough of Newcastle upon Tyne, house carpenter, were mortgagees of property in Staindrop, (2) John and Richard Belough agreed, following defaults in the payment of interest and capital on the mortgage, to sell the property, (3) the property was sold on 24 July 1832 to John Simpson who was believed to be the agent for John Bowman of Staindrop, innkeeper, (4) Richard Belough concurred in the sale, (5) William Wilson was the solicitor of John and Richard Belough, and (6) Richard Belough authorised John Belough to execute the sale agreement on his behalf, 18 December 1832 Originally enclosed in D/X 1228/2
