Catalogue Description

FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Until 1978 both Aycliffe and Peterlee had their own finance departments. However in 1978, the Finance and Administration departments were combined under a Director of Administration and Finance to whom were responsible a Chief Finance Officer and two Chief Administrative Officers.

In 1980, following the government's announcement of the target dissolution date of December 1985, the finance sections of both new towns were combined as one finance department in Lee House under a Director of Finance.
