Catalogue Description

DEEDS

Deeds relating to properties owned by various colliery concerns and inherited by the National Coal Board. Each bundle contains a typescript list of the enclosed deeds, listing (in brief) the parties; duplicates of these lists are available in the Search Room. The deeds have not been listed in detail, but where possible the coal company concerned is specified (that is, where it is clearly a party to one or more of the deeds in the bundle). Several bundles include wills or copy wills; many of the deeds include plans; and those involving coal companies may be useful in providing the names of the partners
