Transcription of some pre-1851 monumental inscriptions from Shildon churchyard, recorded by G. Nicholson and J.A. Readdie in April 1976. When visited, the area to the west of the church had already been cleared and that to the north was in the process of being cleared, with many stones already destroyed or illegible. Therefore only a few of the inscriptions originally existing have been recorded. April 1976
