(1) Certificate from an unknown captain of the 21st Regiment (Royal North British Fusiliers), dated 24 April 1815, verifying the wounding of Lieutenant Ralph Carr, whilst in command of a Company of the 21st Regiment on 8 January 1815 "before New Orleans" and "that he was wounded in three different places".
(2) letter from Lewis Heermann, US Naval surgeon, at New Orleans, dated 22 February 1815, re the three "gun shot" wounds suffered by Ralph Carr in his right temple, left hand (forefinger amputated in US prison camp), and calf (ball still in leg).
Note: Ralph Carr was wounded and taken prisoner at the Battle of New Orleans, 8 January 1815
