Title deeds relating to Lendings Farm, part of estates at Startforth belonging to the Feilding family of Startforth Hall, and sold by George Feilding to William Hall of Barnard Castle in 1772. For further information on:

4 March 1772 (1) Richard Coates late of Westwood, Yorkshire, now of Gilling, Yorkshire, gentleman (2) Eleanor Hodgson of Sedgefield (3) George Feilding of Startforth, Yorkshire, Esquire (4) John Hullock of Barnard Castle, Esquire Assignment by (1) and (2) to (4), for the residue of a term of 99 years, of a close called the Lendings (66 acres) at Startforth in trust for (3). Recites indenture of 28 April 1759 whereby (2) purchased from (1) an annuity of £18 secured on the above estate, and proposed bond of (3) and Rev. George Feilding (his eldest son and heir) to (2) to secure said annuity

(brother, heir and exor. of William Feilding late of same place, deceased) and Ann his wife (2) William Hall of Barnard Castle, gentleman Lease and release by (1) to (2) of Lendings Farm House and 55 acres of land, in part contiguous to the farmhouse called The Garth, The Lendings Pasture, New Intack, Tenter Close, West Field, East Field and Middle Field, all at Startforth, being late the estate of William Feilding deceased. Covenant to levy a fine. Agreement that George Feilding may dig stone from Lendings Quarry during his life for the repair of Start forth Hall, and that Mathew Burbeck may dig stone for 2 years to build a dwellinghouse. Agreement of (2) to pay 2s. 6d. annually to the Vicar of Startforth (part of George Feilding's hay tithe of 10s.) Consideration: £2,150

Recites previous deeds whereby Start forth Hall and Manor were mortgaged to John Tempest and Thomas Tempest under several terms; and whereby they assigned them to Robert Hilton Consideration: £2,150 by (3) to (2)
