Elizabeth Bowes (1699-1759) is probably the sister of George Bowes (see Robert Surtees, History of Durham ..., vol. 4, p.108). The accounts begin with a summary of moneys received and expended, and then give details of household expenditure, mainly on food, from 2 November 1726
