Records concerning Sedgefield Hospital (Ref: D/Ph 386/1-156)

In 1941 two civilian wards were opened for air-raid casualties at Sedgefield Hospital. After Dunkirk it became a military hospital taking in wounded soldiers. In 1947 it became a general hospital and, in 1956, the hospital was granted a licence to train nurses. In 1974, the hospital became Sedgefield Community Hospital. A G.P. unit was opened in 1978, and the hospital closed in July 2002.
