Catalogue Description

Records relating to the business interests of the Bowes-Lyon family, Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, in salt production at South Shields in the 18th century.

Note: 'Middleton's' and 'Burdon's' pans relate to salt pans previously belonging to George Middleton and John Burdon respectively.
