Catalogue Description

Deeds relating to lands in Durham and Yorkshire inherited by the Earls of Strathmore as a result of the marriage of Thomas, 8th Earl of Strathmore, to Jane Nicholson, coheiress of James Nicholson, in 1736.

These lands were situated in the parishes of Auckland St. Andrew, Brancepeth, Chester-le-Street, Easington, Pittington, Houghton-le-Spring, Hutton Henry, the City of Durham and various parts of Yorkshire.
