Catalogue Description

There are two elements to this collection. The first relates to the Friends of North West Durham Hospitals and comprises a minute book, compiled by J.W. Hall, who was for many years Hon. Secretary of the Friends of North West Durham Hospitals, a small local charity. The meetings were usually held in Castleside Village Hall.

The second part of the collection relates to local history and includes leaflets, programmes and similar records relating to North West Durham. These have been organised partly by topic, where they do not relate to a named area or where the focus is wider than the named locality, and partly by place name, with the places listed alphabetically.
