Catalogue Description
NHS County Durham and Darlington was a partnership of two NHS trusts: NHS County Durham and NHS Darlington. Both were Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), responsible for managing front line health services such as GPs and Dentists, and for public health.NHS County Durham was formed in October 2006 by the amalgamation of 5 PCTs in County Durham.
NHS Darlington, originally formed in 2002, remained as a separate NHS trust.
County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust was created in 2006. It runs two acute hospitals, the University Hospital of North Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital. It also runs a number of non-acute centres, and primary care centres.
